Talk back: Safe water assured
By Richard M. Sungcad
General Manager
Moalboal Water District

I was quoted in the Dec. 11 issue of Sun.Star Cebu as having said that: “There’s no denying…that our water source was contaminated.”

I have never denied that our water source “was contaminated.” But that needs to be clarified because it leads to wrong impressions.

First, it is not uncommon for a water source to be contaminated because it is raw water. That is why chlorination is necessary.

In our case, the raw water from Busay Spring, our water source, is fed to our reservoir where it undergoes the process of chlorination, after which, and never before, the water is fed into our transmission lines and into the households.

As of now, we would like to assure the public that we have taken all steps necessary to deliver safe potable water to our subscribers.
