Pacquiao powders Fahsan in 4 rounds By Rommel C. Manlosa Sun.Star Staff Reporter
THE FORT, Taguig City – Stars, politicians, businessmen and celebrities came to grab a share of the limelight, but only one star shone brightest last night – Manny Pacquiao.
The People’s Featherweight champion Pacquiao stamped his class by knocking the daylight out from Fahsan 3K Battery Por Thawatchai in the fourth of a scheduled 12-round IBF eliminator bout here.
On a night where Regine Velasquez belted beautifully the “Lupang Hinirang” and FHM cover girls Diana Zubiri and Juliana Palermo acted as round girls, Pacquiao displayed the devastating power expected of him, which he packaged with a showcase of much improved skills.

The sold-out Murad Muhammad promotion dubbed “Yanig sa Taguig” also saw a new Pacquiao, whose lone target now is to settle the score with Juan Manuel Marque for the WBA/IBF featherweight title in February next year.
It was all Pacquiao from the beginning to the end with Fahsan delivering only one solid blow – a powerful right overhand that landed on the Filipino warrior’s nose.
Pacquiao retaliated immediately, landing two right uppercuts that sent Fahsan to the canvass seconds left in the first round.
A flurry came in the second round before the Thai again got a count at the bell of the third.
A hook and uppercut combination dropped Fahsan for the third time. After beating the count, Pacquiao ended the misery of his opponent with an uppercut to the chin. This time, the referee had to stop the bout at the 1:26 mark.
Cebu’s Z Gorres went the full 10 rounds in a show of mastery over Thai Chairong DiStar in a fight that earned him more followers in Manila.
Chaiyong, who entered the bout tucking 12 wins – all by knocout – against two losses, was totally outclassed by Gorres, who had a perfect 100 score from the three judges; 100-88; 100-87 and 100-88.
Gorres’ victory was highlighted by two knockdowns – in the first and fifth – and after the fight Chaiyong’s left face was badly swollen, while his left eye was almost shut.
Meanwhile, Dex Delada, who was supposed to challenged RP super featherweight champion Bobby Pacquiao in the undercard, let loose his dynamite fists against substitute fighter Arnel Porras, scoring a third-round knockout over the veteran slugger.
The fighter from Camiguin’s fight against Pacquiao was pushed aside after the latter injured his right arm in training.
Another Cebuano, Rollen del Castillo, had a 58-55, 60-54, 59-55 unanimous decision win over Steve Damosmog.
Fernando Montilla retained his RP lightweight belt after scoring the quickest win of the night – a knockout in just 47 seconds of the opening round over challenger Rey Almonicar.
Joebar Damosmog hit a hook on Cebu-based Reynald Tribo’s ribcage and followed it up with an uppercut when Tribo was about to say he had enough to score a first-round knockout win in 1:58.
Ernel Fontanilla also had a first-round KO win in 2:40 over Gerald Carreron, while Lito Sisnorio won by unanimous decision over Christian Maas.
