CFIF garners DTI top award for export dev’t.

* The Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation, Inc. (CFIF), through its efforts in vigorously promoting the Philippine furniture and furnishings industry, was awarded the Export Development Citation by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (Citem), the export promotion agency of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

CFIF president Jay Yuvallos, CFIF vice-president/Cebu X chairman Michael Basubas and executive director Ruby B. Salutan will receive the award today, Dec. 13, at the Malacañang Palace. The event will be attended by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

CFIF organizes the annual premier event in the Philippine furniture and furnishings sector, the Cebu International Furniture and Furnishings Exhibition (Cebu X). On Feb. 26-March 1, Cebu X will once again open its portholes to the world as it launches its 16th run at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino (WCCHC).

From an initial 35 exhibitors on its first inception in 1990, it now has over a hundred exhibiting companies from all over the Philippines converging with over a thousand buyers from around the globe.

Cebu X benchmarked the booming furniture shows in the Southeast Asia. Through Cebu X, CFIF has initiated international trade missions, market study missions and product development and design trainings for export development. These programs were targeted at expanding the markets of the show’s exhibitors through effective promotions, productivity improvement programs and marketing programs.
