Nalzaro: Ouano family’s kind act By Bobby Nalzaro
We should separate the chaff from the grain. While I am one of the vocal critics of Mandaue City Mayor Teddy Ouano on the issue of the existence of a mega shabu laboratory in his city, I would also like to thank him and his family for helping a constituent in dire need of financial help.
The family of the mayor, through his wife Linda, aided former Tedman employee Richard Ouano Albano, who is now bedridden after a severe stroke.
Richard's wife, Carlota, sought help from the City Government following her husband’s hospitalization. But Albano was a contractual worker. Although he worked at City Hall since the administration of Teddy’s father, Pedong Ouano, he was not entitled to benefits.
Carlota wrote me a letter. I read it in my radio program and published it in Superbalita last Sunday. Fortunately, the Ouanos heard and read about it and immediately acted on the appeal of Albano's wife. Teddy's son, Jonkie, called Mrs. Albano last Monday and gave her financial assistance from the personal funds of the Ouanos. Carlota was also assured of City Hall employment.
I don't personally know the Albanos. But Richard’s mother, Nang Deddie, was a known manghihilot in Wireless, Mandaue City. My son, Elroy, was one of her regular customers when he was still a kid. Nang Deddie died years ago.
So, in behalf of the Albano family, salamat sa imong malumong kasingkasing, Mayor. Wala ba ni pamulitika?

Investigators looking into the brutal killing of lawyer Arbet Sta. Ana Yongco and prosecutors handling the case against the suspects should exert more effort in looking for additional evidences and witnesses. The police tagged three more suspects in the killing of Yongco after witnesses that earlier pinpointed suspected gunman, Michel Favila Sr., also identified them.
The alleged accomplices were among the Philippine Benevolent Missionaries Association (PBMA) members who were nabbed by the police at a checkpoint in Lapu-Lapu City last week while transporting high-powered firearms. Like in the killing of photojournalist Allan Dizon, the police are using the hot pursuit principle in arresting the other Yongco murder suspects.
Again, I am not pretending to be a lawyer, but I am just asking investigators and the prosecution to be extra careful in the procedures they adopt in arresting suspects. I am a bit apprehensive about its possible outcome. The cases might be dismissed on mere technicality.
Kahit dahan-dahan lang basta sigurado.
