Sally again in 10-U final
For the second time, Cebu City’s Sally Mae Siso barged into the championship round in her campaign in Malaysia.
The University of San Carlos (USC) South Grade School pride, Siso, captured a seat in the 10-Under finals of the Malaysia Milo International Juniors Tennis Championship 2004 in Perlis City, her second straight finals appearance after likewise barging to the final round of the Malaysia International Junior Tennis Tournament in Penang a week earlier.
Siso, supported by Osaka Iridology and Dunlop, showed some good tennis moves despite her tender age as she blanked her opponents from Thailand, Malaysia and South Korea en route to the finals.
In the semifinal round, Siso trampled Sutatta Buddha of Thailand in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, to arrange a titular duel against Malaysia’s Theiveya Selvarajoo.
Siso and Selvarajoo will dispute the championship title today.
Naga, Cebu’s Francis Largo, for his part, gave the Cebuanos another hope for glory as he barged into the semis in his age bracket, booting out his Singaporean foe.
Another Cebuana, Rosalinda Jaca of Lapu-Lapu City, wasn’t as lucky as she fell to a South Korean rival in the quarterfinal round. (JSV)
