RP coach to hold seminar By Mike T. Limpag Sun.Star Correspondent
AFTER an impressive stint in the just-concluded Tiger Cup, national team coach Aries Caslib will share his knowledge with Cebu coaches in a National Coaching Certificate Course (NCCC) in March next year.
“The thrust of the Philippine Football Federation is coaching education, because we really need that,” Cebu Football Association president Jonathan Maximo said.
Caslib, an Asian Football Confederation instructor, will be holding a five-day seminar at a still to be determined venue for at least 25 coaches.
“Actually we’ve been trying to schedule this for quite some time, but he was too busy with other commitments,” said Maximo.
After the NCCC course, Caslib will also conduct an AFC license C exam in Bacolod in April.
“He wants the AFC C exam after the NCCC so that the lessons will still be fresh in the minds of the coaches,” Maximo said.
Four lincese C
Maximo also said that the AFC C exam will give a chance for Cebu coaches to earn a C license, which is a requirement for other seminars in Manila or abroad.
Currently, Cebu only has four coaches with license C, Rey Calo, Dexter Arrojado, Mario Ceniza and Glen Ramos.
“I am still lobbying for the AFC C exam to be conducted here,” Maximo said.
Meanwhile, the coaching seminar comes after a referee seminar early January to be conducted by Cyril Dofitas.
“We are trying to implement the PFF requirements, like the cooper test for the referees, and only those who have registered for the CFA can join,” Maximo said.
