Ababon, Abellanosa nail upset, top Tabura netfest
JOSEPH Ababon and Junjun Abellanosa defeated Joel Tabura and Boy Torion, 8-5, to claim the Class A title of the 3rd Eddie Tabura Memorial Tennis Cup at the Parto Tennis Court.
The duo picked up the P3,000 top prize for their upset win over the most experienced pair in the competition.
In Class B, Marlon Dosado and Joe Labaya defeated the father-and-son tandem of Ely and Eljun Yak, 8-6, while Boy Abellanosa and Rey Tabasa won over Eddie Cabarrubias and Bernard Baruel, 8-5, to take the Class C title.
After the tournament, a mass celebrated by Msgr. Tining Diotay was offered for Eddie Tabura, the club’s past president for 10 years.
The event was sponsored by Opring, the younger brother of Tabura. Others who attended the mass were Danny Lim, Tubigon Vice Mayor Pat Fuentes, Nick Anzano and Rudy Abellanosa, Boy Torres, Victor Abellanosa, Mario Abellanosa, Jojo Cañada and Tito Abellanosa Jr. (ML)
