BIR set to open eLounge
THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) will hold the soft opening of the BIR Electronic Services Lounge (eLounge) early next month.
The eLounge aims to encourage taxpayers, especially those with no Internet facilities, to use the bureau’s online services, such as the Electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS), eTIN and eBroadcasting.
The eLounge is located at the Revenue Data Center on the second floor of the BIR Regional Office Bldg. along Archbishop Reyes Ave., Cebu City.
In a statement, BIR 13, Cebu City Regional Director Jaime Santiago also reminded taxpayers to file their letter requests for extension on the submission of the Bound Computer-Generated/Loose Leaf Books of Accounts and other accounting records, such as receipts and invoices, on or before Jan. 5, 2005.
The deadline for the filing of requests for an extension on the submission of the List of Merchandise Inventory is Jan. 20, 2005.
These deadlines will give the BIR ample time to evaluate the merits of the requests for extension, Santiago said.
The regional official also said tax mapping and other examinations and verification of taxpayers’ books of accounts have been suspended.
The suspension, however, does not cover the processing and verification of estate tax returns, donor’s tax returns and other similar cases, as well as those specified under Revenue Memorandum Circular 74-2004 dated Dec. 15, 2004.
