Buhawi to fight in Leyte on Jan. 22
ROMEO “Disaster” Buhawi will headline another Rex “Wakee” Salud International promotion in Bato, Leyte on Jan. 22 during the town’s fiesta celebration.
The RP No.8 featherweight contender from Mandaue City is scheduled to slug it out with JR Sollano in a 10-round non-title fight backed by the Bato, Leyte Fiesta Executive Committee.
Buhawi will try to regain his confidence after suffering a sixth-round TKO defeat to Zaiki Takemoto of Japan last Aug. 7.
But Sollano is expected to make Buhawi’s comeback a tough one. Sollano has racked up four straight wins, packed with three knockouts, including a first-round demolition over Mohammad Nazeb last Oct. 23.
Supporting the Buhawi-Sollano clash is Rey Destriza fighting Darius Daguman of Maasin City for eight rounds.
Bato-Leyte’s Terry Espinosa takes on Manny Pacqouan, while Alvin Mundala faces the debuting Apolonio Suico of Mandaue City, both for four rounds.
Five amateur bouts, featuring fighters from Leyte, are also lined-up in the undercard. (RCM)
