Link to murders lands Akrho man in Cebu City’s most wanted list

A member of the controversial fraternity Alpha Kappa Rho (Akrho) is among the 10 most wanted persons in Cebu City.

Supt. Pablo Labra, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau, identified the suspect as Aristotle “Ares” Aves, a resident of Figueroa St., Barangay Duljo-Fatima.

Because of the “frequency” of crimes linked to Aves’ name, Labra said the Cebu City Police Office had no choice but to include Aves, who is in his 20s, in the list.

Recommendation

Labra said he will recommend to the Police Regional Office 7 to also include Aves in the list of most wanted persons in the region.

Records from the Cebu City Police Homicide Section showed that at least nine incidents of murder and homicide since last year, including one case this month, have been linked to Aves.

The courts have already issued arrest warrants for Aves on some of the cases filed against him, Labra said.

The latest incident that witnesses identified Aves as the alleged perpetrator was the Jan. 7 slay of Danilo Canao, 32, a resident of Duljo-Fatima.

Long-standing feud

Witnesses told homicide that Canao may have been killed because he was friends with several members of the rival fraternity Tau Gamma Phi.

The two rival fraternities have had a string of bloody confrontations, often fatal, over the years.

Canao died instantly after he was shot twice in the face. (JST)
