Junior bowler Tiu leads Sinulog tilt elims
CLARENCE Tiu of Bowlingplex Tenpin Association-Bowlmart totaled 1831 pinfalls to move ahead of BTA-Prima’s JunJun Gothong by 94 pinfalls in the qualifying round of the 7th Metro Gaisano Sinulog Tenpin Classic Open Tuesday night at the Gaisano Bowlingplex.
The two engaged in a tight match in the opening game as they ended up with 238 pins apiece. Tiu stepped on the pedal in game two making 226 points compared to Gothong’s 210, but the third game saw the latter overtaking with 249 pinfalls compared to Tiu’s 204.
The see-saw battle continued until Gothong crumbled in the eighth game scoring a series-low 181, while Tiu consistently hovered above 200 to finish the qualifying round on top with an average of 228.88. Gothong settled for second place averaging 217.13. (KIP)
