Mandaluyong nips Cebu in basketball
DON Bosco-Cebu suffered a heartbreaking loss to Don Bosco-Mandaluyong, 62-65, after the 3-point shot by Cebu’s Richard Gon Tecson – that could have extended the game five more minutes – was nullified by game officials in the Inter-Don Bosco Schools basketball tournament at the DBTC Gym.
The win kept Mandaluyong undefeated in the tournament Niño Carballo had a team-high 17 for Mandaluyong, which will next face Don-Bosco Makati at 9 a.m. today after Cebu’s crucial game against Tarlac.
Top scorer
Christopher Lou Sumalinog top-scored with 22 points on top of 10 rebounds and six blocks for the host team.
Meantime, the Salesians of Don Bosco from Luzon and Visayas composed of Fr. Julius Sanchez, Fr. Lan Guiao, a cousin of Red Bull coach Yeng Guiao, Fr. Bodie Segovia, Fr. Andy Satura, Fr. Peter Porio, Fr. Paul Bicomong, Fr. Elo Ulanday, Fr. Florante Apable, Fr. Jobelt Vivo and Fr. Efren Umandal will play against Cebu’s Clergy made up of Msgr. Roberto Alesna, Fr. Jun Gutierrez, Fr. Oscar Banzon, Fr. Russel Sungcad, Fr. Glad Niere and Fr. Lyle Coro in an exhibition game tonight at 7:30.
The Boscolympics is participated by all Don Bosco schools from Mandaluyong, Makati, Sta. Cruz, Pampanga, Sta. Rosa, Tarlac, Victorias, Dumaguete, Liloan, Pasil, Lawaan and Cebu. (KIP)
