Gonzales, Go's 157 hangs on

Marc Gonzales and Blake Go’s two-day total of 157 survived the final-day siege as they took home the top honors in the 24th Coral Tee Invitational Golf Tournament yesterday at the Cebu Country Club.

Henry Uy and Stewart Go tied the winners with a 157, but lost in the countback to settle for second.

Uy and Go lost steam in their final round as they shot a 76, five less than their first-round output.

On the other hand, Wellington Lim and Danilo Pizarro took third spot after shooting an 82 for a 36-hole total of 156. Lim and Pizarro also got the Best in Uniform prize.

Ernesto Dakay and Maning Go won the prize for the first-day top score with an 85. Jose Soberano and Manny Lucero, with an 82, won second by countback over Michael Libi and Albert Solis.

The second-day top garners were Gabriel Yap and Johnny Dizon with 82 points, winning by countback over Carl Almario and Charles Palanca. Third placers were Collin Go and Jon Yu with 81 points.

In the Senior division, Pio Go and Ted Dulangon scored two rounds of 77 each to bring home the crown with a 154, five points ahead of second placers Orly Israel and Ben Paca.

Israel and Paca had the best score of the day with a 78, but their total output was dragged down by their day-one round of 71, to finish with 149 points.

John Uy and Pablo Soon finished third with 146 on rounds of 70 and 76.

In the first day, Julius Neri Sr. and Rady Tojino won also via countback over Jun Larrazabal and Ed Enriquez. Both pairs scored 70 points. Jesus Cui Jr. and Antonio Garcia scored a 69 for third.

In the second day, Richard Go and George Go had the best round of 76. (ML)
