GMA premieres Asia’s best Korean drama
* Heeding the clamor to air the most-talked-about Korean drama that melted hearts across Asia, GMA Network is showing Stairway to Heaven on its weeknight primetime soap block starting Jan. 17.
Starring Korean heartthrob Kwon Sang-Woo and sought-after actress Choi Ji-Woo (more popularly known to Filipinos as the awe-inspiring Janice of Winter Sonata, the second offering of the top-rating Endless Love series), Stairway to Heaven is the most anticipated “Koreanovela” to be shown on Philippine television.
In several Asian countries where it was shown, it registered remarkable ratings and captured viewers’ hearts with its poignant tale of selfless love and elicited noteworthy reviews from the heartrending performance of its stellar cast. This Asian hit features the moving love story of Cholo (Kwon Sang-Woo) and Jodi (Choi Ji-Woo), who loved each other since childhood but were separated by fate. Jodi was left behind, silently enduring the cruelty of her stepmother and stepsister, who plot to kill her later on. Jodi’s stepbrother Charlie (Shin Hyun Joon) is the only one who is not cruel to her, but his affection for her transcends brotherly love.
Too deep is Charlie’s love for Jodi that he lies to her and makes her believe that she loves no one else but him after an accident wipes out her memory. He renames her Jenna in the hopes of giving her a new identity whose life would solely revolve around their “relationship.”
But Cholo returns and finds Jenna, and despite her inability to recognize him, he knows deep in his heart that she is Jodi, the only woman he will ever love. He relentlessly pursues Jenna and vows to bring back her precious memory and rekindle in her heart their undying love for each other.
