Ginebra wins, lives another day

Barangay Ginebra slipped past San Miguel, 94-92, yesterday to forge a sudden-death Game 5 in the Gran Matador-PBA Philippine Cup semifinals at the Araneta Coliseum.

With their backs to the wall Ginebra lived up to its billing as a never-say-die team, holding off a furious second-half blast by the Beermen.

The much-anticipated Game 5 will happen tomorrow also at the Araneta Coliseum, and the winner will face Talk ‘N Text in the finals.

Mark “The Spark” Caguioa, who finished with 19 points, again came up with the biggest shot as he buried the game-winning basket with 3.9 seconds left.

Rodney Santos also came out with an excellent performance, tallying a career-high 23 points, built around a 50 percent shooting, on top of five assists to bag the Best Player of the Game honors. (JSV)
