Speak out: Naming the coastal road By Vicente P. Cujardo
This is in reaction to Mr. Adrian Lino Arquiza’s letter (Sun.Star Cebu, Speak Out, Jan. 23, 2005). May I provide him with my thoughts regarding his views:
1.Considering its use and for its being assessed as world class, the Cebu South Coastal Road can be called an international landmark, just like the Mactan-Cebu International Airport. Many will even agree that the coastal road is better than the airport.
2.For Cebuanos whose memories are not short, naming the south coastal road after Ferdinand E. Marcos will only happen over their dead bodies.
Anyway, when it comes to naming Cebu’s latest landmark, I hope the Cebu City Council will remember Serging Osmeña, the first man I saw that transformed seawater into land.
3.The Edsa revolution did not happen right away after Ninoy Aquino’s death in 1983 because driving Marcos out of power was no joke. The Filipinos were patient. Dili pareha sa sili nga mohalang dayon.
