DBTC routs USJ-R for second win

DON Bosco Technology Center picked up its second win after dumping the University of San Jose-Recoletos, 68-39, in the Aspirant division of the 2nd ML Kwarta Padala Cup – Developmental Basketball Tournament at the USC-Boys School Gym.

In the Mini division, the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) contained St. Alphonsus Catholic School (Sacs), 59-35.

Don Bosco went to work right away with Jun Ico de Paz scoring 13 of the teams 30-8 bomb in the first quarter.

De Paz topped all scorers with 19, while Ducao scored 11 for USJ-R.

On the other hand, USP-F allowed Sacs to erect a 15-7 lead in the first quarter before recovering to take control of the next three quarters.

USP-F outscored Sacs, 16-6, 19-6 and 17-8 in the last three quarters to put the game in the bag.

Meanwhile, MLSDF executive director Eddie Ybañez said that the Aspirant division games will be rescheduled as a result of the coaches meeting yesterday.

To end the tournament by Feb. 20, the Aspirant cluster’s matches will be held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to give the champions enough time to prepare for the 55th National Students Basketball Championships in Dumaguete City on Feb. 27 to March 5.

The new schedule will be released next week.
