Dynamic couple Bunny and Allen Pages played cocktail hosts at the spanking new campus of Bright Academy in Banilad to show the community their expanded venture in the field of education which now includes grade school and high school. It’s a very wholesome campus with age-old trees and breezy open spaces.

Ely de Veyra, national president of the Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines, deserves to take it easy for a while now that the 39th National Conference is over. It was a job well done by Ely and her hardworking team, and of course she had the full support of dear hubby, Rotarian Manny de Veyra of the Cebu Mother Club.

PAL’s AVP-Sales and Services Celso Dapo said goodbye to friends here shortly before he left for his new assignment in the Middle East after four years in our Queen City. He was no longer around when our PAL friends led by VP-Corporate Communications Rolly Estabillo and PAL-Cebu execs Chris Lebumfacil, Jun Canton and Francisco Yngente treated media to lunch at Laguna Garden Cafe.

Our dear Mom, Ever B. Garcia, didn’t want to make a fuss on her birthday but balikbayan daughter Dr. Zenda Lat and husband Dr. Iman L. insisted on hosting a dinner get-together. It was an intimate gathering of family and the doctor-friends of the Lats who were in town after a medical mission in Iloilo... Dr. Erlinda Gambito from Kentucky, Dr. Ramon and Dr. Nancy Alcala and Dr. Joe and Dr. Violy Quintos from New Jersey. Also present were New York-based Dr. Ruben and Dr. Perlie Paredes who have retired from practice and are now just concentrating on “smelling the roses” and playing golf. They all welcomed the chance to meet with Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia at the party.

Dr. George Neri (yes, he is the well-known plastic surgeon) was beaming during the Awards Night of the 37th Golden Tee Invitational Tournament at the Manila Golf and Country Club...no, he and his partner didn’t win, but his lovely wife May was named club champion in the Ladies division. A single digit handicapper (handicap 6), May can give even the men golfers a run for their money.
