City offers P1M so health unit won’t cut off boys’ summer rite
SOME 12,000 boys can avail themselves of free circumcision this summer after the Cebu City Council appropriated P1 million for medicines and supplies for Operation Tuli 2005.
The council approved last Wednesday a resolution charging against the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) funds the amount needed for the project.
Councilor Christopher Alix told the council the City Health Department has been having difficulties preparing for the activity because of the shortage in supplies.
Alix, chairman of the council’s committee on health and hospital services, proposed to use the Pagcor funds for the purchase of various medicines, supplies and surgical instruments for the free health service scheduled this summer.
The Office of the Mayor holds Operation Tuli every year to give free circumcision to boys from all 80 barangays in the city.
The circumcision will be done in the different barangay health centers.(LCR)
