Jewelers trounce CDO for finals slot

M. LHUILLIER Kwarta Padala-Cebu City got back strong from its first defeat to shoot down the Cagayan de Oro Stars, 95-59, in the semifinal round and proceed to defend its title in the 4th Kaamulan Invitational Basketball Tournament yesterday.

The Jewelers topped the elimination round with a 4-1 win-loss record after losing to the North Braves Saturday.

The championship round will feature the Yayoy Alcoseba’s Cebu City. against Ozamis City today.

After a 20-13 lead in the opening quarter, the Jewelers put the game in the bag, closing the half at 42-24.

With Ocañada scorching from the perimeter, Chammy Cañoneo and Leodi Garcia joined the fray and put the lights out for the Stars, as they finished with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Alano Caputolan, who averaged four points in its past three games, finished with 10 points for the Jewelers.

Ocañada topped the Cebuanos with 15 points while Patrick Numeran lead CDO with 11.
