Imagine a super busy mom with hyperactive twins and an active lifestyle both in showbiz and advertising, while exuding the same persona that she is— bubbly, charming, eye-popping, outspoken and kikay.
It’s not easy, indeed, but Carmina Villaruel was able to maintain all these through discipline and good time management.
“If I’m going to describe my life now, I think it’s close to perfection. My precious possession is my family, my cute and very adorable twins, four-year-old Maverick and Maria Cassandra, it’s God’s miracle,” she beams.
“My career is also doing good.. thank God I have good health and a great circle of friends to achieve all this. I couldn’t ask for more,” added Carmina in an interview with Sun.Star Life and Leisure following the “Kilikili Monologue” show she did for Rexona last Sunday at the SM City Entertainment Plaza.
Carmina, who started in a TV commercial for Jollibee at the age of 12, is now the campaign spokesperson for Rexona Pro Balance with Sunflower Whitening Oil, aimed to educate and assist women who have problems with dark irritated underarms.
“Ay talagang napaka-effective nito. Had I not believed in this product I would have not endorsed it. This will set the women free from the negative effects of plucking and shaving,” she enthused.
“I only took time out just to spread this good news. Because honestly, I have a very crazy schedule in Manila right now. Like every Wednesday, we do a live show for “Sis” (a daily morning talkshow with Janice and Jelly de Belen for GMA-7) and then we do tapings good for two episodes. On Thursday, we do another live show for “Sis” and then taping again, then run again for comedy gag show, Nuts Entertainment. That’s my typical day that’s why when I’m free I see to it that I only spend it with my kids.”
Carmina also juggles the rigors of being made up with prosthetics for the fantasy-telemovie Mulawin, and soon, the much-awaited, Darna, where she will play one of the villains.
It’s so amazing how she organized things and still managed to come out victorious and fulfilled everytime. On top of that, she also does grocery and often brings take-out food for the kids after a day’s hard work. But a typical Carmina is not a brand-conscious mom when it comes to clothing, perfumes, accessories and other girl’s stuff except perhaps for shoes and bags which, she said, usually eat up her budget.
“Mababaw lang naman ang kaligayahan ko, I’m already happy if I can do shopping or go to the spa or parlor twice a week or visit my derma once a month, things like that,” she added.
As a way of gratitude, Carmina gives part of her earnings to her favorite insitution, particularly the destitute children in the Philippine Orthopedic Center. “Once in a while I visit them, I send them toys, clothes, food… I’m thinking of a project for them, like education siguro para they can make use of their time there,” she stressed.
The lovely actress also reveals that she and Zoren Legaspi, who fathered her twins, are currently building their own house in Pasig since they are still renting until now in White Plains, Quezon c ity. Marriage, however, is still not their immediately concern.
“We are just taking things one day at a time, we will have our grand day in God’s perfect time,” she giggles.
