Cebu’s tourism ticks because . . .

Cebu’s tourism ticks because . . .

TOURISM. Through text messages, I asked some friends to share their opinions or views with the public on why Cebu tourism ticks or clicks. Here are their answers:

****

Top choreographer Victor Cuenco: “Cebu’s colorful cultural events, the development of its tourist spots, as well as the presence of high-spirited individuals, make Cebu tourism tick.”

****

Asian Academy of Music’s Hannah Louella Magdadaro: “It is because of Cebu’s beautiful beaches, restaurants and entertainment spots. The good mixture of city and provincial ambience, plus its friendly and accommodating people, make Cebu a perfect place to be.”

****

Composer Jun Cabillar: “Cebu is small and manageable and easy for tourists to go around since its traffic situation is not that heavy. Cebu’s cheap but delicious food and its satisfactory peace and order situation should also be taken into account.”

****

Singer Leo Patrick Acibar: “Cebu has several cultural treasures and heritage, as well as world-class beach resorts, not to mention that Cebu’s food is affordable and Cebuanos are tourist-friendly. We even smile at the tourists we meet for the first time.”

****

Singer-stage director Jamna Gicole: “Traveling from the city to the beautiful beaches, as well as mountain and city views, takes just a few minutes to complete. To Tops, it’ll only take you 25 minutes and Mactan Cebu International Airport 30 minutes. Travel time is now shorter because of good roads and other infrastructure that provide us with the convenience, especially in visiting the towns.”

****

School owner-educator Teena Fajatin: “What makes Cebu tourism click is its zazzy happy people. Pizzas, food delight; and it’s a cool, good-looking place.”

****

Program host Carol Ballesteros: “Cebu tourism ticks because it has already become an integral part of Sinulog that people always look forward to as a major celebration. Beauty pageants here are also a crowds favorite.”

****

Livewire diva Marion Busano: “We advertise, promote and patronize our own province, its wonderful sights, exciting events and pretty ladies.”

****

Public relations guy Cerwin Eviota: “Cebu is simply a paradise worth a tourist’s experience. It’s a destination for those seeking a laid-back atmosphere, yet it has urban facilities within easy reach.”

****

Broadcaster Tisha Ylaya-Gonzales, a.k.a. Inday Tikay: “Cebu tourism is grounded on a rich and colorful culture, peppered with the innate charm of the Cebuanos, always greeting guests with an ever ready smile – a smile that is so sincere and down-to-earth, it makes even first-time visitors here throw their anxieties away in unabated excitement.”

****

SUMMIT. All well-meaning Cebuanos should voice out their strong opposition to the split-Cebu bills. They should not allow those three Cebuano legislators to divide this historic province just to satisfy their greedy political motives. Through this corner, may I remind everyone to attend the One Cebu Summit at one o’clock this afternoon at the SM City Trade Hall where a number of prominent personalities are to speak on the issue and explain why the split-Cebu plan is stupid and detrimental to this province and all Cebuanos. See you there this afternoon.

****

CHINA. This former beauty title-holder here is now doing well as a singer in Beijing, China, after a few months of working as a hotel lobby entertainer in Hong Kong. She also used to appear in a local teleseries production before deciding to work abroad. (E-mail: samcost@yahoo.com or text 0916-3483333.)
