Three guards and two inmates at a maximum-security facility Camp Bagong Diwa were killed after suspected members of the al-Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf, which is on the US list of terror groups, overpowered their guards and snatched their guns yesterday morning. “We are exhausting all possible means to resolve this peacefully,” Metro Manila Police Chief Avelino Razon said. “The military option, which is the final option, is still there.” [full story]
