art and culture: 15 years with the Lord By Chinggay Utzurrum art and culture
Got a minute? Goes Rev. Father Alfredo “Alfie” Africa’s opening words during his homily at the Mass celebrating Rev. Father Joel Momo’s and his 15th year in the service of Our Lord in the Mission Society of the Philippines (MSP).
Both priests were classmates in Batangas, and entered the seminary together, so they’re “true blue, through and through, as they say! And guess what, they’re now both in Cebu!
“Got a minute” refers to an incident between a mother and son. The son of course was requesting for a “minute” of bonding with his mom. We certainly have a minute for you Fathers, even an hour or two, as you bask in the Almighty’s abundant graces and blessings. Since you’ve gone this far in our Lord’s missionary service, let Him guide you onward to greater heights of glory.
By the way, the Mission Society of the Philippines (MSP) is a National Society established by the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines in 1965 to recruit, train, send and support Filipino Missionary priests and seminarians in the service of their fellowmen in areas outside the country especially in Southeast Asia. At present they have missions in Papua New Guinea, Taiwan, Solomon and Cook Islands, etc.

Another kind of dedication is being inculcated in the young ballet students of Fe Sala-Villarica at BalletCenter! These students, ranging from the tender age of five all the way to adulthood, are under the artistic tutelage of Tita Fe and have really honed their “toe talent”! to the fullest!
After rehearsing assiduously, they are now ready to present their culminating event at a “Ballet Happenings-2005” activity at the Ayala Center.
Repertoire includes: “Mozartiana” which will feature the Pre-Ballet Group- Creative Dept; “Variations in Blue” to music by Strauss; for the Elementary one students; Then comes two dances from the Ballet “Raymonda”, “Pas des Enfans and Grand Pas Hongrois”, with music by Glazounov.
A rousing finale will be performed by the Queen City Chamber (a sister company of BalletCenter) as they “march” with “Here comes the Navy”..
Here’s another announcement from BalletCenter: Nursery group (ages 3-41/2) are also part of the action as they have their Open House for kith and kin, on March 29 at BalletCenter in Ayala Center. Interested parties may want to join Summer Classes, April 4-May 31. Enrolment is now going on ; Call telephone number 232-2958;

We’d like to congratulate proud mom Myrna Tan Ngochua, whose articulate daughter, Patricia is one of the three from Cebu to compete in Washington, D.C. (USA) at the 2005 Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition, come March 28, 2005;
If you talk about oldest and most prestigious, this competition is the first of its kind and attracts (like bees to honey!) participants from the “cream-of-the-crop” of law schools all over the globe, such as Harvard, Oxford and the National University of Singapore. Get the gold, kids.
