Jo-Nel’s Trucking runs over Vemer’s Gold in PPSA tilt

IN AN awesome display of might, Jo-Nel’s Trucking Services ran roughshod over Vemer’s Gold, 100-69, last Sunday to clinch its second win in the 2005 Punta Princesa Sports Association (PPSA) President’s Cup.

Boosted by the stellar performances of power-playing pivotman Cesar Ortega and scoring specialist Eric Espinosa, Jo-Nel’s showcased its full power to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Gym crowd by posting a 44-32 lead at the half before finishing off its foe with a big second half.

The additional scoring of Boboy Omaña, Joey Cal and Alfie Lansang combined with the tough defense of Mark Elizondo and Bay Villarta powered Jo-nel’s to several 20-point leads in the third and final periods clinching the win, which improved its win-loss record to 2-3.

The bruising Ortega topscored with 30 points for Jo-Nel’s, which also drew double-figure scoring from Espinosa with 14 points, Omaña 12, Cal 11 and Lansang 10.

Eric Galos had 16 points, while Richie Patalinghug added 13 for Vemer’s, which dropped to 2-2.

Jo-Nel’s (100) – Ortega 30, Espinosa 14, Omaña 12, Cal 10, Lansang 10, Cabiso 6, Elizondo 4, Villarta 4, Granada 4, Lopez 3, Olis 2. Vemer’s (69) – Galos 16, Patalinghug 13, Verdida 9, Pancho 6, Castillo 4, Cabacoy 4, Rayco 3, Bedrina 2. (GCM)
