4 Cebu booters make RP pool
Four former Cebu-based footballers are on the select list for the training pool of the RP Men’s team, which will see action in the 23rd Southeast Asian Games in Bacolod.
The list was released by national coach Aries Caslib and posted at the Phil-football.info forum, the defacto website of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).
Michael Casas, the youngest goalkeeper to start for the Senior squad, leads the list along with fellow keeper Ref Cuaresma, a Dumagueteño who also had a stint in Cebu, and Johniel Bapor, another Cebu-based keeper. Striker Arnie Pasinabo is also on the list.
Casas and Pasinabo were former players of the vaunted Carmen National School under coaches Mario Ceniza and Australian Graeme Mackinnon, who has since returned to his homeland.
Casas saw action in the Tiger Cup last year and in the Bolkiah Cup last month.
On other hand, Cuares-ma was also on the Tiger Cup team but didn’t see action as he was nursing a broken finger.
The other Carmen teammates of Pasinabo and Casas, who was given a citation by the San Miguel Corp.-Sportswriters Association of Cebu, are now playing for the University of the Visayas. (ML)
