CEBU basketball legends Ramon Fernandez, Manny Paner, Yoyong Martirez and the late Arnie Tuadles will join Philippine basketball icon Robert Jaworski, 3-time PBA MVP Bogs Adornado, and legendary import Billy Ray Bates in topbilling the list of nominees for the first-ever PBA Hall of Fame.

The star-studded, 69-strong list – composed of players, coaches, league/team officials and media personalities who have contributed to the epic saga of the PBA – will serve as the selection pool for the Hall of Fame inductions, which will take place on May 28 at the Araneta Coliseum in commemoration of the PBA’s 30th anniversary.

Other prominent players being considered for the Hall of Fame are two-time MVP Abet Guidaben, Francis Arnaiz, Philip Cesar, Abe King, Fortunato “Atoy” Co, Freddie Hubalde, Bernie Fabiosa, Danny Florencio, Lim Eng Beng, Manny Paner, Yoyong Martirez, Mike Bilbao, Chito Loyzaga, Ricardo Brown, Hector Calma and Samboy “Skywalker” Lim.

Bates, the former Portland Trailblazer who led the Redmanizers to their second grand slam in 1983, is one of only two imports who made it to the list along with pioneer Billy Robinson.

Baby Dalupan, the winningest coach in PBA history, leads the line-up of coach nominees that include fellow grand-slam winner Tommy Manotoc, Dante Silverio, Ron Jacobs and Turo Valenzona.

Founding commissioner Leo Prieto and the well-loved Danny Floro, the late team manager of Crispa, are on top of the team and league officials’ list. (GCM)
