Moneywise: BIR offers e-services

It’s tax season, and so the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) comes to mind. The BIR now offers these electronic services:

eFPS—the electronic processing and transmission of tax return information, including attachments, and taxes to the government. This can be done through the BIR website at www.bir.gov.ph.

eTIN—a convenient way for taxpayers, both professionals and employees, to secure their TIN (Tax Identification Number) through the BIR website. It also enables taxpayers to make inquiries and update their registration information.

eSales—reporting of monthly sales by business establishments through texting, e-mail and the Web starting April 10, and every 10th day of the following months.

eAccreg—accreditation of government suppliers of goods and services.

Taxpayers must first register for each of the services. Those who do not have an Internet facility can go to the E-lounge at the BIR Regional Office on Archbishop Reyes Avenue, Cebu City, said Maria Zorahaida de la Cruz, head of the Taxpayer Assistance Unit.

Taxpayers are advised to use these electronic services to avoid the payment of penalties for non-compliance of BIR rules and regulations. ALC
