SSS adopts 4-day workweek, opens new teller systems
THE Social Security System has announced that it will cater to its members only four days a week, as part of the government’s cost-cutting scheme.
SSS will be open from Monday to Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., but its teller windows will operate up to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to receive payments from members.
SSS support services, such as computer operations, are not affected by the new work schedule.
SSS has more than 25 million members worldwide, including more than five million self-employed and voluntary members. It has 173 branches, including 14 offices abroad.
The SSS is set to open 24 additional teller windows in different parts of the country by the end of May to allow more members to pay contributions directly to the institution.
SSS Executive Vice President Horacio Templo said the new teller facilities will bring to 43 the total number of tellers operating nationwide.
The tellers provide an alternative to the banks, which have been the main conduits for SSS payments for many years.
The new teller facilities will be opened in Iligan, Ozamis, Pagadian, Dipolog, Legaspi, Iriga, Daet, Sorso-gon, Laoag, Tuguegarao, Batangas, Boac, Calamba, Calapan, Puerto Princesa, Dumaguete, Lapu-Lapu, Tagbilaran, Tagum, Olong-apo, Dagupan, San Fernan-do in Pampanga, Angeles City and Cabanatuan.
