Mandaue City Hall gets P1M makeover
By Aledel G. Cuizon
Sun.Star Staff Reporter

THE Mandaue City Hall building is undergoing a P1-million renovation that will hopefully impress visitors and locals in next month’s Mantawi Festival.

Wooden doors of the session hall and the office of City Administrator Serafin Blanco were replaced with glass.

In preparation for a centralized airconditioning system at the second floor hallway, the windowpanes there were also changed to sliding glass.

With the availability of more funds, all the office doors on the ground floor will be changed to glass and the comfort rooms will also be improved.

Annual budget

Cheryl Ouano, the mayor’s daughter-in-law and executive secretary assigned to oversee the renovation, said yesterday that the funds for the materials and labor are already in the annual budget.

She said the improvement is in preparation for visitors who will come to the city for the Mantawi Festival next month.

Some P100,000 was allocated to repaint the building.

Tiles

The building’s new tiles cost some P400,000, while the glass windows and doors on the second floor cost some P450,000.

Work at City Hall is scheduled for completion this week and the renovation of the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Center will immediately follow.

The lights inside the facility were already changed and the City spent about P500,000 for it.

Like City Hall, the sports complex will be repainted and its comfort rooms improved.

The airconditioning units will also be fixed.
