Bohol power plant recommended for management quality mark

BOHOL Diesel Power Plant (BDPP), the 22-megawatt government-owned facility supplying electricity in the province of Bohol since 1978, has been recommended for certification to the International Quality Standard ISO 9001:2000.

The formal certification may be awarded to BDPP soon after the Third Party Certifying Body issues its recommendation for this, according to a statement.

ISO 9001:2000 is the international quality standard that recognizes a company’s capability for reliable delivery of high quality products and services.

To achieve certification, Bohol Diesel Power Plant engaged the services of Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI Phils.), a qualified certifying body by the United States of America. BVQI Phils. assessed the plant’s quality management, operation and maintenance system last April 5 and 6.

“The ISO certification speaks well of the men and women behind the BDPP and underscores a commitment for continuous improvement of its quality management systems,” said Wilfred Sinay, BDPP plant manager.

Awarded

BDPP is among the most awarded power plants of the National Power Corp., getting recognition as the Best Diesel Plant in the corporate-wide selection, Second Best Thermal Plant of the Generation Group and Best Thermal Plant of Napocor from 2002 to 2004.

The 4 x 5.5-MW diesel plant in Dampas District is an ancillary provider to the Napocor Bohol Island Grid. It is synchronized with the Leyte-Bohol Interconnection System and other plants servicing the province.

BDPP supplies power to Bohol Light Co. Inc., Bohol Electric Cooperative Inc. (Boheco) I and Boheco II.

Firms with direct connections to the Napocor Bohol Island Grid include the Philippine Mining Services Corp., Bohol Enterprises Inc., the Alturas Group of Companies and the Marcela Industrial Plant.
