US-based coffee shop to open first outlet in Cebu

AN international coffee shop will open its outlet in Cebu on April 30 at Banilad Trade Center (BTC).

Gloria Jean’s Coffees was founded in 1979 in North Chicago, USA. Now 25 years in the coffee industry, Gloria Jean’s Coffees has around 600 outlets in 18 countries outside the USA, like Autralia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Turkey, Singa-pore, Ireland, Thailand and the Philippines.

In a press conference Friday, Gloria Jean’s Coffees (Philippines) franchising and business development manager Ramon Balingit Jr. said, “Gloria Jean’s Coffee in Banilad Trade Center will be our 17th store in the Philippines—a significant growth in less than two years after the opening of the first Gloria Jean’s in Manila.”

Balingit said they are also developing stores in other key cities, like Davao and Bacolod. “We are open for franchising, and we value our local partners because they know their respective markets,” he said.

Gloria Jean’s Coffees, the first store to open its doors at BTC, will offer hot and cold coffee-based drinks, fruit chillers, pastries and sandwiches.

Lalaine Espiritu, managing director of Zobella Gourmet Coffee Corp., franchisee of Gloria Jean’s Coffees in BTC, said: “We see a good market in Banilad Trade Center because it’s a new mall… We also have plans to expand and have more outlets in other leading malls, maybe after a year.” (ALC)
