Seares: ‘We didn’t know’
By NEWS(BOY) SENSE

TALISAY City can say it can’t allow land or water in its territory to become part of Cebu City.

Talisay can say it will refund Cebu City expenses for that part of South Reclamation Project (SRP) it is claiming.

Talisay can say its right can be defended in any court.

Talisay, in fact, can say anything about its claim, even about Mayor Tomas Osmeña being boorish, vengeful, and illogical.

But Talisay should never, never say it didn’t know about SRP.

But, horror, Talisay already did.

No document

Talisay City Attorney Aurora Econg the other day said there is no document saying Cebu City told Talisay City about the loan that financed SRP and the sub-loan that would have financed a 20-hectare portion for Talisay.

Granting there is no such record and no formal notice given, Talisay can’t say it didn’t know.

Not unlike a neighbor who, looking out his window, saw construction going on—the hauling, digging, cutting, hammering, and crushing—and saw it again and again, yet kept silent about it for days, months, years.

Only when work was finished did Talisay whine, “Hey, you’re building on part of my property, I want my share.”

Concede that as Talisay defense of territory, which Cebu City can accept, but doesn’t, as business risk.

But Talisay saying it didn’t know?

Get out of here!
