Inflation hits 7.3%
Inflation in Cebu Province rose to 7.3 percent in April, from 3.4 percent in the same month last year, according to the National Statistics Office.
The inflation rate measures the rate of change in prices as computed from the consumer price index (CPI).
The inflation was driven mainly by increases in the prices of fuel, transportation and communication, corn, fish and meat.
But in Cebu City, inflation fell to 5.3 percent in April from 8.1 percent, in part because of declines in the prices of eggs and household furnishings.(CTL)
