Micro-D surpasses sales target for Visayas, Mindanao by 50%

After surpassing its sales target last year in the Visayas and Mindanao (Vismin) regions by 50 percent, Micro-D International Inc. (MDi) is confident it will retain, or even increase, its market share and sales this year.

Faith Bautista, MDi Vismin branch manager, said the company has big clients in Cebu, like Lexmark, Timex, NEC, Fairchild Semiconductor, Tita Gwapa, Visayan Electric Co. and other multinational corporations.

“We are targeting more clients and getting more projects in Cebu. As early as the second quarter of this year, we have been doing well in terms of hitting our sales targets,” Bautista said on the sidelines of a product demonstration at the Cebu City Marriott Hotel Tuesday.

MDi is a Manila-based provider of products for computing, like servers, storage, notebooks and desktops; networking, like LAN (local area network) switches, Voip (Voice over Internet Protocol) gateways, WAN (wide area network) accelerators; and security, like firewalls, virtual private networks, and anti-virus, anti-spamming and email security to corporate clients.

“Nationwide, we are pretty known in the industry as a system integrator. We have a strong and wide variety of clients in the government and also in the corporate institutions like PLDT, Globe and Smart for telecommunication companies, call centers, education, manufacturing and banking institutions,” Gener Camiling, MDi product manager for e-security products, told Sun.Star Cebu.

MDi has been operating for 17 years and has a big share of the market, said Camiling, without providing figures.

Josefino Paloma, MDi president, said the Bureau of Internal Revenue is using MDi’s business intelligence and analytics solution to track down tax evaders.

Last Tuesday, MDi introduced a solution called Data Center Solution, which integrates products from Dell for the computers and servers, APC for the power supply, Juniper Networks for security solutions and IronPort Systems for anti-spamming security.(ALC)
