Ex-ALA Boy wins as his foe gets disqualified

Former New Generation ALA Boy Reman Salim was too much for Roy Llanasa, who lost by disqualification after roughing up Salim in the supporting main event of “Combate sa Gethsemane” Tuesday night at the Gethesemane Parish grounds in Casuntingan, Mandaue City.

The main event between Pedro Malco and Rey Destriza, on the other hand, was cut short and ended up in a technical draw at the 1:27 mark of the second round. A head collision left a deep wound on Malco’s head, forcing referee Tony Pesons to stop the fight.

The card that was delayed by power failure, saw the 23-year-old Salim pouncing on Llanasa, who offered little resistance after the opening bell.

After getting battered with head and body shots, Llanasa opted to clinch but overdid it by tripping Salim to the canvas, earning the former a warning from Pesons in the third round.

Instead of heeding to the warning, Llanasa continued his antics, which earned him a point deduction in the fourth.

The Cagayan de Oro-based Llanasa made the same infraction twice in the fifth, prompting Pesons decided to disqualify him at the 2:08 mark of the fight scheduled for eight rounds.

In the other matches, Jason Geda scored a unanimous-decision win over Gerry Lota after six rounds, while Abdul Simo of Cagayan de Oro was the lone victorious visitor as he also won by unanimous decision over Ruther del Castillo of Mandaue City.

The card, sponsored by Nori Balbuena-Saito, was made possible through the efforts of Fr. Wendell Balbuena. (RCM)
