Cocktail chic

Joy in fashion

WHEN Philippine Tattler, the country’s high society magazine, sent out invitations to Cebu’s well-heeled set to an evening of cocktails (co-sponsored by SMART Infinity) held at the foyer of the Mactan Ballroom at Shangrila’s Mactan Island Resort, there was no doubt that it would be an elegant evening.

True enough, Cebu’s top politicians, businessmen, media personalities, socialities, fashion mavens, and fashion designers who were in attendance came garbed in fabulous confections of the dress code for the night: cocktail chic.

A cocktail dress is less formal than evening gowns, yet dressier than day wear. The typical fabrics for cocktails would be silk and chiffon and the typical color would be black—often with beaded embellishments. But see how these hip and fashionable ladies brought out their individual styles in what they chose to wear on that very classy affair.
