2 women nabbed in drug bust
TWO women who allegedly “inherited” the drug operations from Carcar’s top pusher were arrested in a buy-bust Wednesday afternoon.
Flordelina Lanas-Ramos, 33, and Carolina Porponio, 44, had sold three packets of shabu to a police asset in Sitio Lomboy, Barangay Liboron, Carcar at 4 p.m.
According to SPO1 Meliton Agadier of the Carcar Police, Lanas-Ramos now lords over the illegal drug business in Carcar after the town’s top man, Bernabe Saducas Sr., was arrested last month.
Agadier said Lanas-Ramos merely took over her husband Venancio’s duties after his arrest in 2002 and has worked for the Saducas group since then.
The police already arrested the Ramos couple in 2000 through a search warrant, but they posted bail.
Costly operation
They did not stop selling shabu for Saducas until Venancio was arrested in 2002.
“Daghan na kaayo na sila mga parente didto sa CPDRC (They have many relatives at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center),” Agadier said.
He added that operating against the group was costly as they had to rent vehicles just to persuade them that they meant business.
“They know all the police vehicles and are familiar with all our operatives. We have to ask others to do the buy-bust for us because they can recognize the local policemen,” Agadier lamented.
Aside from two packets of shabu they bought from Flordelina, they also took 10 other packets from her possession.
Her companion Porponio, whose live-in partner is Venancio’s nephew, yielded a small of pack of shabu and P1,500 cash.
Agadier said Flordelina did not sell more than two packets of shabu, which is why they had to get a third packet from Porponio.
Aside from being a distributor, Flordelina also sells packets to users on the side. They reportedly receive big packs of shabu and repack these to smaller sachets or place these inside vapor rub containers.
Flordelina does not sell in her house but picks an area where clients can find her and make a transaction, Agadier disclosed.
She reportedly brings only a few packets and returns home for more if she runs out. Agadier revealed that Flordelina does not keep big packs of shabu because the smaller packs are easier to dispose of if police decide to conduct a raid.
Transfer
Both women are detained at the Carcar Police Station.
Agadier does not think that their arrest will stop members of their group from their business. They will only move to another area that is not known by the police to be able to serve their clients. MEA
