Lizares aces 6th, wins car, P100T
By Glenn C. Michelena

Gassy Lizares certainly knows how to make up for lost time.

After a rain-plagued Day 2 forced him to shelf his clubs last Friday, Lizares came back with a vengeance yesterday, where he pulled off the most spectacular – and certainly most envied – feat of the View Invitational 2005 golf tournament.

Lizares, a guest teammate of Dominic Hing, scored a hole-in-one on the sixth hole, and got his hands on the keys to a brand new Audi A4 from PGA cars-Prudential Guarantee & Assurance Inc., two airline tickets from Cathay Pacific, a Singapore tour package from Marist Holiday Travel & Tour, a Yamaha motorcycle and P100,000 from CICI General Insurance Corp.

37th spot

His rare exploit notwithstanding, Lizares and Hing ranked only 37th in a combined output yesterday, as the sunny weather and the lush Alta Vista Golf and Country Club greens played host to a series of remarkable performances yesterday.

Manuel Go and guest Yasotaka Hosokawa emerged as the top producers of the day with a combined total of 78, which was heavily reinforced by Hosokawa’s 43.

AVGC member Vicente Go likewise had his swing working for him with a 42, which enabled him and partner Bebot Baldemor to land second with a combined 77.

Henry Uy and Stewart Go ended up with a 76 for the day to take third place, while the tandem of Owen Algoso and Marlo Cugtas (73) and Marlon Ferraren and Marlon Oclarence rounded out the day’s top five.
