Apple cites problem-free operation to increase market share in Cebu

Apple's Macintosh aims to grow its market in Cebu by pitching its usefulness to computer users who do not want to suffer from downtime.

“For computer users who cannot afford any downtime, like computer crashes and hang-ups that are common to PCs (personal computers), Apple’s Macintosh is the answer,” said Richard Lee, proprietor of Dream-tech Enterprises.

“Apple has integrated hardware and software (for) the system. It has its proprietary operating system…. Other PCs combine an operating system from one manufacturer with software from another, so disintegration and system errors create a problem. That’s why a computer crash happens,” he said in an interview last week during a presentation of Apple hardware and software products.

Dreamtech Enterprises is an authorized reseller and service center of Apple computers. “Mac users can avail themselves of our technical support,” Lee said.

“A low-end set of Mac would cost around P40,000. And that is good enough and will guarantee you headache-free use of your computer,” he said.

Most Mac users in Cebu are companies that are into creative designs and printing, and individuals in different lines of work, he said.

One reason why people doing creative designs and printing use Mac is that it gives the viewer the actual color of the print. “What you’ll see in your computer screen is what you’ll get in print, Lee explained.

Dreamtech Enterprises presented its latest operating system, OS X Tiger, which has a faster processor and built-in wireless capability.

It also showcased its Mac Mini, a compact machine that contains a 1.25 or a 1.42GHz with 256MB RAM and 40 or 80GB hard disk compatible with any monitor, mouse and keyboard. (ALC)
