Speak out: President must not resign
By Minifredo P. Eribal
Minglanilla, Cebu

Many of the personalities asking President Arroyo to step down have themselves committed offenses against the Filipino people.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson was accused of masterminding the massacre of Kuratong Baleleng gang members and of laundering money.

Joseph Estrada was toppled from the presidency and is currently on trial for plunder. He was impeached in the late 2000 over allegations he ran an illegal gambling protection racket.

Sen. Aquilino Pimentel has always been in power. He can be called a prostitute politician.

Bro. Eddie Villanueva is a frustrated presidential candidate and possibly suffering from post-electoral defeat depression.

Retired general Fortunato Abat was former secretary of defense but is currently a prominent member of the KSP (Kulang sa Pansin) group of retired generals. He also wants to become president.

President Arroyo’s stand has always been to uphold the rule of law. She was elected on a platform of urgent change and reform.

Critics of the President should calm down so that the country can move forward with President Arroyo at the helm. Those salivating for power should used means allowed by the constitution.

This hardworking president got our votes and continues to enjoy our trust and confidence.
