Shaba starts 10th season, becomes political
Cebu’s oldest alumni cage league, the Sacred Heart Alumni Basketball Association (Shaba), gets bigger and “politically charged” as it opens its 10th season tomorrow at Sacred Heart School-Jesuit.
In a restive political atmosphere, where Sugbuak was the word of mouth before a certain set of audiotapes became the focus of the nation’s attention, a proposed province will field a team in Shaba.
The team named Cebu del Norte ’95 is composed of Michael Miranda, Carlo Martinez, Jerome Tao, Manuel Torcio, Reylan Gayas, Warren Go, Ian Ong, John Ngo and Paolo Sucalit.
“This year, we are getting the school more involved since we are celebrating our 50th year,” Shaba president Joey Gaisano said.
The rest of the squad are John Uytengsu, Kieth Atansio, Kendrick Sulay, Kelly Co, Benedict Lucido, James Edquilla, Rhett Tomakin and Enrison Benedicto. (ML)
