McDonald’s customers now get free Sun.Star

McDonald’s customers can now enjoy a hot breakfast and a free copy of the day’s issue of Sun.Star Cebu with every minimum single food purchase of P100.

Consistent with its aim of providing customers more value in serving them, McDonald’s Cebu operations consultant Christian Eje said the firm opted to offer its breakfast customers free newspapers.

“We are pleased Sun.Star Cebu was interested to support us,” he said. “This will be so every day for the rest of the year,” he added.

McDonald’s breakfast customers in Davao, Cagayan de Oro and soon in Tagbilaran, Iloilo and Bacolod will also be served with Sun.Star issues as published in these places, according to the chain’s PR consultant Cerwin Eviota.

In Cebu, McDonald’s serves breakfast at its outlets on Jones ave., JY Square Lahug, Cebu South Road, Colon and Mactan from the time the store opens until 10:30 in the morning. McDonald’s outlets in SM City Cebu and Ayala Center don’t serve breakfast since the malls open at 10 a.m.

Sun.Star Cebu vice-president for marketing Julius “Jay-Jay” Garcia Neri, Jr. signed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) for this arrangement last July 1 with Eje, who represented McDonald’s Vismin operations manager Rommel Ong.

McDonald’s chief happiness officer Ronald McDonald himself also witnessed the MOU signing with Cerwin Eviota, Sun.Star Cebu ads and promo manager Grace Cañete and circulation manager Anthony Onrejas.

“We are happy to have become partners with McDonald’s in their initiative,” remarked Neri. “And we are proud that Mc-Donald’s breakfast customers now get to be informed of the current events early in the day by the news we deliver.”

Neri and Ong said they both look forward to pursuing other forms of collaboration beyond serving McDonald’s breakfast customers with crispy Sun.Star Cebu copies.
