Of coffees and gardens

Looking back, people have gradually shifted as to how they greet coffee in the morning. For some, sipping a cup before leaving for work is enough to start the day. But nowadays, coffee is not only associated with waking up in the morning but also about welcoming a brand new day, plus a slice of bread or pasta and a garden.

“We were surprised to know that people actually come to eat breakfast and drink coffee at such an early time because they fell in love with our garden and they felt it was a beautiful place to start their day with,” City Garden Coffee finance manager Winnie Chua shares. “And they are not just the typical customers; some of them are the working professionals who go to work in the morning.”

City Garden Coffee, a newly opened coffee shop along Cabancalan road, Mandaue city, is offering light breakfast and merienda daily – from lasagna, sugar-free cakes, sandwiches, salads and burgers to a long line of hot and cold coffee varieties with Javanilla, After Eight and Smoothies as their specialty drink.

“We’re more like a one-stop coffee shop for all, most especially the health-conscious as we also offer specialized drinks for diabetics. It’s because we’re not just limiting ourselves to becoming an ordinary coffee shop. We had a concept, and we hired our own master barista Aubrey Javierto, who himself had gone through several experiences and is now in the business for more than two years,” marketing manager Alvin Kwan said.

Kwan further added that they are also studying their own mix of syrups to differentiate them from the rest of the coffee shops.

“We even made our own special ice cream to top our desserts. We will also soon be offering meals and a real Italian pizza bar,” he added.

The coffee shop said it could accommodate up to a hundred people in its gardens, and 25 in its air-conditioned area. It is also open to exclusive functions and cocktails.
