Shop selling Pinoy items opens at BTC

“I’m inviting the public to come to our shop and experience the creativity and ingenuity of Filipino products from all over the country - Filipino-made products that you cannot find elsewhere in the Philippines but in the best stores abroad.”

This was how Urban Treasures owner Laurie Boquiren encouraged Cebuanos to buy and use Philippine-made products like accessories and furniture, which are now being exported rather than sold in the country.

“Our products are very affordable and possess a unique kind and style that you cannot find elsewhere. We want to make it known that Philippine products are still the best in the world. Also, we will be coming up with new stocks all the time. The products you see now, you might not see later.”

Urban Treasures is a contemporary store housing very contemporary Philippine accessories and furniture.

Boquiren, who runs the shop with best friend Jean Altavas, serves as president and general manager of Castilex Industrial Corp., one of the biggest furniture industries in the country. She said the shop’s furniture is being supplied by Castilex while the accessories are from Jamaica Markets Corp.

Boquiren added that as part of helping the community, they are training unemployed women to make and produce products and crafts.

The shop also carries a wide range of home and gift items from frames to decorations. For more inquiries, one may call 344-4175 or visit the shop at the ground floor of the Banilad Town Center, South Arcade, Banilad. (Lalaine T. Go)
