2 ‘witnesses’ fall in anti-drugs raid
Two defense witnesses in the murder of photojournalist Allan Dizon were caught allegedly participating in a shabu-sniffing session in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City at 2 a.m. last Monday.
Alan Igot, 45, and Alberto Flores, 41, were arrested with Allen Ygot, 20 and Roger Jumalon when the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau (CIIB) conducted a saturation drive at Ygot Compound, Mabolo.
SPO2 Filomeno Men-daros, who led the police team, insisted that they caught the suspects sniffing shabu and confiscated several paraphernalia as evidence.
Denial
But Alan, in an interview at the detention cell yesterday, denied the allegation.
Alan refused to say whether he is the same person who earlier stood as defense witness in the Dizon trial.
Flores, on the other hand, declined to talk with reporters.
Alan said they were outside his house when the policemen arrived looking for a video carrera operator.
When police failed to locate the operator, Alan claimed, they were then rounded up and brought to the CIIB office on allegation that they were caught sniffing shabu.
There was no paraphernalia confiscated from them, Alan added.
The four were charged yesterday for violation of the anti-illegal drugs law.
They are temporarily detained at the stockade of the Cebu City Police Office after signing a waiver of detention. They also asked for a preliminary investigation before the Office of the Cebu City Prosecutor. (JST)
