Kim, Espina bag titles
With their swings in top form, Rio Kim and Edwin Espina captured the most prestigious plums of Mactan Coral Golf Club’s (MCGC) 3rd Quarter Members Golf Tournament last Wednesday.
Kim, a 25-handicapper, captured the Overall Lowest Net plum after producing a 58, while Espina carded a gross 64 that easily won him the Overall Lowest Gross award.
Mario Bancale, on the other hand, took home Class A crown with a 64 net, winning over John Garaña by four strokes, while the Class B crown ended up in the hands of Willie Palugod, whose 68 bested Tosihiro Kan’s 69.
Rolly Carpio took the Class C title via countback after he and runner-up Mario Queblatin produced identical 68 nets.
Players who came through with remarkable exploits were also rewarded with special prizes.
One went to Toshihito Irehata for posting the longest drive on hole No.1, while another went to Arnel Go, whose shot came nearest the pin (four feet and two inches) on hole No.6.
Renee Tariman had the longest putt on hole No.18. (GCM)
