Batch ‘99 logs record win in Shaba

Worlwide Steel ’99 extended its winning streak in record-breaking fashion as it demolished Gef Carrier ’98, 74-29, in the Sacred Heart Alumni Basketball Association.

In another game, defending champion Gillamac’s ’97A had to dig deep in its arsenal to beat White Gold ’96, 57-55, to go up 6-2 in the standings, while Pagcor 2000 had a scare before beating Hytsu 2005, 76-75, behind Dave Ting’s 15 points.

It was a nightmare for Gef Carrier, which was cuffed to a record-low points in a half at nine and in a whole game at 20 as Worldwide Steel went 8-0.

Kent Ong led the slaughter with 18 points, while Huang added 15 as they dealt Gef Carrier its seventh loss against one win.

Meanwhile, Juny Alejandro gave White Gold a 10-point lead in the third quarter before Walter Ong and Melvin Tan hit their treys to narrow the gap to 33-35 going into the final period.

Reigning MVP Shean Barte sizzled at crunchtime to propel Gillamac’s in the fourth.
