Cebu furniture continues to lure designers, architects nationwide
Cebu has remained to be a place where designers and architects from all over the country go when in search of creative furniture and home accessories.
Nene Treveño, proprietor of Treveño’s Arts and Antiques, said she has been supplying, in bulk, clients from Manila and other places in the country with furniture, which she herself designed.
“Most of my clients come to me when I have furniture exhibits in Ayala, and (they) order in bulk the furniture they like. This is why I always invest in mall exhibits because the return is long-term,” she said.
Treveño’s sales performance, which earned for her the distinction of being the number one antique shop in Metro Cebu in the National Shoppers Award, contradicts perceptions of some furniture exporters that the local market for furniture is weak.
She said Filipinos always spend for furniture and home accessories, especially those that are of high quality and value.
It is for this reason that Marlene Villanueva, president and chief executive officer of furniture exporter Brickstone International, still operates her furniture retail outlet, Signature Furniture Collections.
“Based on the sales performance of the outlet, I believe that many Filipinos want to own export-quality furniture and I want to give them that opportunity,” she said.
Treveño and Villanueva will conduct a back-to-back furniture exhibit, dubbed as “Furniture and Antique Fair”, on Aug. 13 to 31 at the Ayala Activity Center and credit card holders can avail themselves of zero percent interest for purchases done on three, six and 12 months installment basis during the exhibit.
