CIT bags 2nd place in Accountancy Week

The College of Commerce of the Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT) placed second in the recently concluded Accountancy Week 2005 sponsored by Picpa-Cebu chapter.

The Technologians were adjudged champion in the Level 1 Accounting Quiz Bowl; third - Level 2 Accounting quiz bowl; second -Philippine Accounting Standards/Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PAS/PFRS) Challenge (team category); fifth - top 10 PAS/PFRS Challenge (individual challenge); second -Philippine Standards of Auditing Challenge (team Category); second, third and 10th – Top 10 Philippine Standards of Auditing Challenge (individual); champion - Business Law and Taxation Quiz; and first, third, seventh - Top 10 Business Law and Taxation (individual category).

In the non-academic competition, the group placed first in the dance palabas and poster-making contest and third in extemporaneous speaking, tall tales and solo singing contest.

City Ordinance 2031

Meanwhile, in response to City Ordinance 2031, which requires solid waste segregation and waste classification, CIT held a seminar on Solid Waste Management last July 20 at its audio-visual room.

Invited guest speakers were Nida Cabrera, Barangay Luz administrator; Councilor Nestor Archival, head of the Committee on Environmental Management; and Councilor Edwin Jagmoc, head of Public Services.

Spearheaded by Engr. Amis Pacamalan and Engr. Ruel E. Sabellano, the discussion served as a culmination of CIT’s Solid Waste Management Program that started last school year.
